Dr. Carlos Rudamas

Dr. Carlos Rudamas is a professor and researcher in the School of Physics at the University of El Salvador, where he directs the Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory and coordinates the Regional Doctorate in Physical Sciences. He first trained as a physicist at UES and later pursued graduate studies in Germany with a DAAD scholarship, earning a European doctorate for his optical characterization of quantum wells and dots for diode lasers. His work combines experimental and theoretical optical spectroscopy applied to semiconductor nanostructures, extending into biophysics, medical physics and atmospheric pollution. His team has built prototype white-light LEDs based on cadmium sulfide and carbon/graphene quantum dots, along with solar cells made from environmentally friendly materials.
