Solid-state chemistry and batteries
Dr. Jonathan Cisterna is an academic in the Department of Chemistry at the Catholic University of the North in Antofagasta, where he leads the New Materials and Battery Cells area of the university's Lithium Center. His research covers solid-state physical chemistry, coordination and organometallic chemistry, and metal-organic solids with electroactive properties. Through Chile's FONDECYT 2025–2026 competition he was awarded a starter project to develop solid electrolytes for safer, more efficient lithium batteries. His broader output spans inorganic chemistry, crystallography and coordination compounds.
