Dr. José Luis Solís Véliz

Dr. José Luis Solís Véliz is a physicist and professor at the National University of Engineering (UNI) since 1994, where he directs the Center for Renewable Energies and the Functional Materials Research Laboratory. He led a multidisciplinary team that developed antimicrobial fabrics by impregnating copper and zinc nanoparticles into textiles, work that gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic. He describes himself as an experimental physicist with his feet on the ground, committed to applying scientific research to practical problems affecting society, industry and the market.
