Dr. Mauricio Arias

Dr. Mauricio Arias is an academic in the Physics Department of the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), in Antofagasta, Chile. His work centers on experimental materials physics for energy applications, particularly monocrystalline silicon solar cells. He also investigates the synthesis and characterization of nanopores formed on silicon through metal-assisted chemical etching, for instance using silver. He has supervised UCN theses on these topics, aligned with CEFMA 2026's focus on materials for energy.
