Dr. Ricardo Salazar González

Dr. Ricardo Salazar González is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where he also serves as Director of Outreach and Continuing Education. He holds a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Chile (2009) and completed a postdoctoral stay in environmental electrochemistry at the University of Barcelona. He leads the WATER² research group, dedicated to treating urban, industrial and natural wastewater through advanced electrochemical, photochemical and electrocoagulation oxidation processes. His work includes designing electrochemical sensors to detect pollutants and integrating circular-economy principles and solar energy into water treatment, with projects such as a solar photoelectrochemical reactor to remove micro-pollutants via the photo-electro-Fenton process.
