Abstract

Al-doped CdS thin films were made using a cheap spray pyrolysis method. The study looked at how adding Al changed the structure, light properties, shape and light‑sensing ability of Al‑doped CdS films. X‑ray diffraction showed that adding Al made the polycrystalline CdS thin films more orderly. UV–Visible tests found that Al‑doped CdS films let a lot of light pass and had a band gap that works well for seeing visible light. SEM pictures showed that Al‑doped CdS thin films had a even grain layout with fewer surface flaws. A detector built from Al‑doped CdS films responded very well to white light giving almost no dark current and a big photocurrent when 10 V was applied. In short Al‑doped CdS thin films have structure and light‑sensing traits making them good candidates, for visible‑light detectors and other light‑based devices.
