Abstract
Alumina-silica composite ceramics were synthesized by mechanical alloyed, using different Al2O3/SiO2 weight ratios to investigate their potential for thermoluminicent dosimetry applications. The raw materials were milled, compacted into pellets and sintered at 1100°C. Structural and morphological characterization was performed to evaluated phase formation and microestructural evolution as a function of composition . The influence of the alumina content on the physical properties of the composites was analyzed. The obtained materials exhibited good densification and structural stabilit, suggesting that the processing route is suitable for producing ceramic composites with potential dosimetric application. These results provide the basics for evaluating their thermoluminiscent response under ionizing radiation.
